Speaking to Every Overnight Customer at a 24-Hour Vegas Restaurant
Released on 07/16/2024
[calming intro music]
We missed a reservation at STK.
So we came to the Peppermill,
because it was the first place my father took me
on my first trip to Las Vegas.
So, special place.
[Interviewer] What are you looking for in Las Vegas?
A rich old guy.
[Johnny laughs]
Yeah, so I own a restaurant in St. Felix in Hollywood.
The Peppermill is authentic, neon.
If you want old school Sin City, Las Vegas,
this is the spot.
There's a traditional diner up front,
but in the back, there's this neon palace
with this fire pit that's so unique.
The service industry people that service this town come
to this place and have been coming for years.
So where the real cats from the du Las Vegas,
service Las Vegas come to.
I'm a barback at one of the resorts on the strip.
I was just getting off work and I like the vibe here.
I just wanna have a cocktail and get something to eat.
I did the fettuccine Alfredo.
[Mila] We took forever getting ready.
[Mila laughs] Yes.
They took forever
getting ready, actually. He was waiting for us.
Yeah, I was sitting on the bed waiting
for two hours, roughly. Yeah,
Everyone in Las Vegas is just up
at all hours of the night.
Yeah. There is no,
like, curfew or anything.
[Jocelyn] Long day.
It's been a long day. Long day
and one night. We've been up for a while.
In Vegas, there is no set time.
Nope. You can take a nap
and stay up as you please.
So there's always a time and an hour for whatever, you know,
you desire. Yep.
But you have to have good company and good people with you
Good support To enjoy it.
Yeah.
We may not go to bed tonight.
I think we're gonna be on the poker table,
roulette, for sure.
I actually come to Vegas not to go to sleep.
[Carter chuckles]
Like I would be sleepy if I was at home.
If I was at home right now, I'd be dirt tired.
But for whatever reason, Vegas makes me stay up
Vegas after midnight.
Expect anything.
It's fun, it's open, it's energetic.
We in Las Vegas Sin City,
so you know what I've been doing?
I miss sinning.
I do not think I'm gonna sleep tonight,
because this is the city that does not sleep,
and it's about...
It's three o'clock in the morning, and look at me, man.
I'm turned up!
I'm awake!
Oh, the room, oh my god.
You know, I don't know where I'm at,
to be honest. [people laughing]
I get, like, Grand Theft Auto vibes.
I'm not gonna lie,
[person laughs] but it's a vibe, though.
I feel, like, it's very, the ambiance.
Yeah. You know, we got
the crystal ceiling.
I feel like I'm in a movie!
I feel like
Oh, yeah. I'm Dom Perignon right now.
That's why, you know, I've got all these shots,
'cause I just feel like I'm the man tonight.
[people laughing] You know, like,
You're the man. You guys make me
feel welcome.
Su casas, mi casa.
Mi casa, su casa.
That's why we're here, we're having fun.
[people chattering]
Next question.
This part back here kinda makes us feel like connected.
It makes us feel kinda like close.
Like if we were in a hotel room.
I really enjoy this place, 'cause it feels very homey.
We're just gonna have fun tonight,
and wherever the night takes us, we're gonna have fun.
That's all that matters.
I love the social experiment.
Everybody's out.
Whatever their vibe is, they came to party.
And some people may have gotten cured,
some are where exactly where they needed to be
and they're here to have a good time
despite what is going on.
[Interviewer] Do you feel optimistic overall
about your time in Vegas?
I definitely do.
I am being just blessed.
[calm electro music] [people chattering]
The night was going okay.
The music festival I came here for was canceled,
but I'm starving, so we came here.
We arrived, found out that
the Lovers & Friends Festival is canceled,
and came straight here for delicious food and drinks.
[Interviewer] Are you bummed?
Are you like...
Oh, 100%.
I am six feet from the edge, and I'm thinking...
♪ Maybe six feet ♪
[Lizzie laughs]
So. [laughs]
It's tough.
We're not going to sleep.
We're staying up until 12:00 PM today.
Sucks.
I feel like just crying in the home,
because it doesn't make sense.
We spent damn near three racks!
Three racks for this concert,
and they're not coming due to several days of bad weather.
I'm never recovering.
[beep] them.
I'm not!
We actually came down here for Lovers & Friends,
but we're gonna go party with Luda.
The party that Ludacris is throwing starts,
I think, at 10:30 and it ends at 5:00 AM.
[Interviewer] What time is it now?
[Jamise laughs]
It is 3:41 AM.
So, as soon as we get our food,
we're gonna go party. [chuckles]
We're supposed to have gone to Lovers & Friends,
and they canceled it.
I was looking for a good time,
because God knows I need it.
[Interviewer] Are you normally doing this
at three o'clock in the morning?
I am normally studying
for my boards at three o'clock in the morning.
So, no.
I'm kind of an introvert,
and I like to do my own thing,
and I like to read books.
But I'm really happy that we ended up here,
because it's very nice,
and that we can hang out with our friends and family
and be in a place that we're comfortable.
[relaxing electro music]
I came to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday.
She's turned 20 and it's just been super fun.
Yeah, I'm here with the entire family.
I'm happy I was invited.
It's weirdly familial vibe around here.
Six days away from children, for sure.
We've been married for 10 years and we don't get time away.
My wife is refusing to tell me what she's gonna order,
because then she knows I'm going to plan it
so that we can split both things.
See, I don't wanna tell my husband,
because he'll probably steal it from me,
but I am gonna order The Conquest.
It was some type of like Philly cheese steak thing,
but if I say it, he's gonna want it
and then I'm gonna have to switch my order.
I mean I wanna share it.
Yeah.
I think that's fair after 10 years of marriage, right?
We should share everything.
We are definitely here for our girls trip.
It's time to get away
and do something a little bit different.
Living it up just a little bit.
Just doing Vegas the way it should be done.
All night long.
All night long. [Teila laughs]
Don't stop.
My sexy boots, which is really not a good thing
to say as a mom of three, but they make feel cute.
We are down here,
because we have a family funeral, so.
We're just here having dinner.
Close family gathered like this makes a lot of memories.
Before I got here tonight,
I was at Cirque du Soleil, my sisters and my wife.
I would compare Peppermill to Cirque du Soleil
on a one to 10.
Cirque du Soleil was a nine.
Peppermill, nine and a half.
Just barely, because I'm a foodie, so...
[relaxing electro music] [people chattering]
This is actually a weird drink that we tried
to have them replicate and it came out pretty okay.
It's an Aperol spritz kind of with vodka, basically.
I ordered a Coronarita.
The Coronarita is a margarita with a Corona.
I ordered, like, a fish bowl.
I don't know.
This is very strong.
You want to try some, actually?
Six shots are in the street, apparently.
[Interviewer] How do you think that's gonna go for you?
I'm a regular alcoholic
so it's gonna go terrible, [person laughs]
but, like, yeah.
I might have a good time for the next couple hours.
Yeah.
The famous Scorpion Bowl.
You share it with friends, I think.
Or if you want to drink it yourself, you totally can.
We went to Fremont Street, I think.
Like, old Vegas.
Found a bar called The Nerd,
and it has, instead of riding a bull,
you ride a [beep].
And you ride it like you would ride a bull.
And that's where we went and that's what we did. [laughs]
It's definitely giving, like, Eden.
Like Eve and Adam vibes with trees and stuff,
and good lighting.
[Kris] This is definitely the end of the night.
[Alexis] Well, this is definitely late.
Ah, no, no, it's not really late.
This is about the normal time.
We just left the club.
I just try to water, drink, water, drink.
I don't do, you know, heavy drinking,
but I can't be here too long,
because I have to go to the gym in the morning,
so I'm gonna be wrapping it up as soon as I'm done eating.
So it is 3:50.
It is almost four in the morning.
Oh, boy.
Yeah, it is strange to be eating this late, early?
That's an interesting conundrum.
Well, looking around, I mean,
Vegas with all the bright lights,
everything feels very distorted,
so it's hard to tell time in general.
The Peppermill is definitely like
its own miniature casino with the reflection
and the neon lighting.
Like, it's really cool here.
[relaxing outro music]
Peppermill! Peppermill!
Peppermill! C'mon! Peppermill!
[Everyone] Peppermill! Peppermill! Peppermill!
Peppermill! Peppermill!
[David cheering] Peppermill! Peppermill!
