Turning the “Covid slide” into the “Covid glide”

Our educational team is composed of exceptional and experienced tutors who are “bespoke” meaning they can teach any subject.  Think of our tutors as consistent “homework helpers” that know when to reinforce, remediate or expand on any subject that the child is struggling with; in that sense we don’t have math tutors, English tutors, science tutors, etc., (with the exception of languages – Mandarin, Spanish, Latin and French).

Tutors, all graduates are paid market rates. We draw from a pool of current Peace Corps Volunteer Educational Specialists who are currently in the US with no overseas assignments due to COVID-19, Foreign Service spouses, retired teachers and homeschooling parents.

What Differentiates Our Tutoring Program?

Because we are responding to loss of learning, our tutors work with your child for assigned long periods of time (minimum of 10 weeks) in a one-one-one online tutoring format. During this time bonds develop and knowledge is then transferred with much more ease than different tutors per subject. We find this necessary amid Covid and more importantly post-Covid as a new norm sets in. The biggest loss children experience was the loss of connections they had grown accustomed to all their school lives. We replicate that connectivity by striving to keep tutors working with the same student for the duration of the sessions.

TUTORS ARE OUR MOST VALUABLE RESOURCE

“Learning is a function of the ratio of the time actually spent on learning to the time needed to learn. The time needed depends on cognitive factors and the quality of instruction, while the time spent depends on the amount of time that is available and the student’s motivation to use it.”  Carroll, J. B. (1963). A model of school learning. Teacher College Record, 64, 723733.
